TopX Australia was formed in August 2010 when Cyril and Sue Close, Tom and Belinda McLeish and Luke Westaway purchased TopX Pastoral from a group of like minded producers that originally started the marketing business in 1995.
The company’s head office is based in Roma and is overseen by Cyril Close while Tom McLeish is based at Longreach and Luke Westaway at Richmond. TopX Australia affiliates are also based at Cloncurry, Ravenshoe, Quilpie, Cheepie, St George, Taroom and Eidsvold.
The business is fully integrated and streamlined, with all administration, including the processing of livestock and property sales, carried out through the Roma office.
“All TopX branches are independently owned and managed, but have the advantage of being involved in a proven TopX network and support system,” Mr. Close says. “With the implementation of mobile technologies, each affiliate can access their TopX office wherever they are, whether that be in the paddock, or on the road. Emails, faxes and files can be sent straight to an affiliate’s phone and the TopX Website works for them and their clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

TopX was established in mid-1995 by a group of North Queensland graziers. The aim of the company, then named Topex Pastoral Pty Ltd, was to pursue long term mutually profitable supply alliances.
At that time the Australian Cattle industry was characterised by a win/lose relationship between buyer and seller. Lack of control, knowledge and expertise in matters "off-farm" was typical of the cattleman's lot. However as is often the case, frustration and a strong desire for change lay in the hearts of a few. This proved to be the seed for a movement toward a more collaborative marketing approach and the formation of TopX.
